Summer is here! No school! Beach vacations! Longer days! Time outside! 

There’s a lot to look forward to, and if you’re feeling some pressure to make the most of it, you’re not alone…but don’t panic! As you consider what this summer has in store for you, keep your mental health in mind, and remember:

Summer is about balance

As much as summer means slower days for many, for others the regular, daily grind continues. So, even if you find yourself spending the sunny season hard at work, remember that it’s still a great time to just seek some balance. Take advantage of more daylight to hit the basketball court after work or take a run in the early morning. By using this time to claim some balance, you might still score some summer fun, no matter what else you have going on.

Summer is about freedom

If you’re getting some time off this summer, good for you! Having free time can feel exciting, energizing…and sometimes a little overwhelming at first! Let it be what it will be, and remember that it’s okay (and super normal!) to have a transitional period. That’s the beauty of free time after all: you can feel free to feel your feelings and use your time however you need. So, enjoy the freedom, and let your mind and body be your guide.

Summer is about flexibility

The best way to find some summer magic? Leave some time in your schedule for it to find you!  Sure, the temptation to pack your summer with plans can be strong  – and some goal-setting is good!  That said, try leaving some time in your schedule to let fun find you. That way, whether a surprise invite is for a backyard barbecue, an impromptu pool trip, or even just a movie night with the fam, you’ll have some flexibility to do whatever feels most summery to you.
