5 Especially Summery Ways to Find Purpose in Nature

Category:

Not a big camper or hiker? No problem. Getting out in nature, especially in summer, is simple.

Topic Of Discussion

In today’s technology-driven world, it can be easy to lose touch with nature. Our lives require us to be on our phones or computers so often that we just can’t help it! Still, nature is everywhere, and taking time to connect with it often naturally leads to self-reflection on purpose. The natural world, after all, is built for us – big win! Spend some time in it and you just might find some answers for how to live better even as life itself evolves. Read on for simple ideas!

Go stargazing

Depending on where you live, you might have to take a drive…or you might only have to step outside after sunset! Either way, getting your eyes to the skies is a powerful way to reconnect with nature, feel small, and think big. If you live in the city, where the stars are harder to see, getting a good glimpse of them (and how many there are) can be especially affirming.

Watch a sunrise or sunset

An option twice a day, everyday, no matter where you live! (Bonus points if you can get to the water or higher ground to watch it!) In this life, where our time is bountiful – but not infinite – watching the start and/or end of daylight can be an easy and beautiful way to remind ourselves to prioritize whatever matters most to each of us.

Plant a vegetable garden

Even in July, it’s not too late to get planting whether you’ve got the perfect patch in your backyard or a big clay pot for your patio! Maybe you can even use what you grow to…

Have a picnic

Either go big with a blanket, or just take your plate on to the porch! During the summer, everyday activities can be outdoor activities and a picnic might be the most perfect example of this. Make the most of the mundane, and use your snack break to soak up some sun!

Learn about local plants

…then keep an eye out for them on your next walk! A simple Google search to learn more about what grows in your area might make you that much more excited to get outdoors. You can even make it a scavenger hunt for the kids (or fellow adults!) in your life.
